EdisonLearning’s Framework for Learning and Teaching (EFLT)

EdisonLearning provides educational curricula to over 150,000 students around the globe and offers professional development for teachers and administrators. The company employs a rapid track growth model, the EdisonLearning Framework for Learning and Teaching (EFLT), to help teachers develop the necessary skills to best assist their students with learning.

After assessing over 1,000 teacher evaluations using the EFLT model, EdisonLearning determined a need for improving teacher quality. The evaluations demonstrated that new and developing teachers struggled to help students learn efficiently by connecting meaning and knowledge, and often failed to utilize specific tools for building mental connections.

To assist teachers with helping their students meet their learning goals, the company’s achievement team singled out the most significant learning objectives and subsequently designed structured thinking-based videos to address these objectives. Used in combination with the organization’s project-based learning curriculum, these videos clarify the relationship between meaning and knowledge for students while also serving as a valuable coaching tool for teachers striving to improve the quality of their teaching.

New NorthStar Academy Opens in St. Petersburg

EdisonLearning, Inc., is a forward-thinking provider of academic services, including more than 150 core and elective online courses for students in grades six through 12. Serving more than 150,000 students in the United States and the United Kingdom, the EdisonLearning team remains focused on building brighter futures for students around the world.

EdisonLearning recently supported the launch of a new school, NorthStar Academy of Pinellas County, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Adhering to all social distancing measures, the opening ceremony involved both school representatives and community officials, as well as parents and students. As the 2020-2021 school year moves forward, students at NorthStar Academy will be fortunate enough to have access to a range of online learning technology, as well as EdisonLearning’s extensive catalog of eCourses. These digital resources are available to NorthStar students at all times.

The new school will be overseen by principal academic officer Dr. Tanya Chauncey, a former “teacher of the year” honoree. The academy will join numerous other NorthStar locations throughout the state, which have graduated thousands of Floridians over the past decade. NorthStar is known for producing both college-ready students and individuals with the job and technical training skills needed to join the workforce following graduation.
